The works and deliberations of the two-day “1st Arab-Hellenic Health Conference” ended on 23 May with an amazing success, in terms of the high-ranking diversified business participation from 17 Arab countries and professional Greek participation from major pharmaceutical companies and other health domains.
The two-day conference started with the introduction, the opening speeches and the keynote addresses by the Secretary General of the Arab-Hellenic Chamber, Mr. Rashad Mabger, the Chairman of the Board of the Chamber and CEO of City Unity College, Mr. Harris Geronikolas, the Greek Minister of Health, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, and the Assistant Deputy Minister for Health Investment Development of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Ibrahim Alomar. And, of course, the address by the initiator and dynamo behind this Conference, Ms. Julia Tseti, President & CEO, Uni-Pharma S.A. & Intermed S.A., Secretary General of SEV-Hellenic Federation of Enterprises & BoD Member at the Arab-Hellenic Chamber.
Then followed the specialized sessions on the Arab Pharmaceutical Industry, the Potential of Medical Tourism in Greece and the Potential of cooperation and investment opportunities in hospital procurement, Laboratories, and Rehabilitation Centers. Keynote addresses were delivered by Ms. Elena Rapti, Deputy Minister of Tourism of Greece, Mr. George Patoulis, President of Athens Medical Association, and President of the Greek Health Tourism Council – ELITOUR of Greece, and Dr. Faisal Al-Dahmashy, Assistant Deputy Minister for Hospitals’ Services at the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia.
The second day opened its works with keynote speeches by our guests, Prof. Dr. Hamoudi A. H. Al Limy, Senior Advisor for Industry & Private Sector Development at the Prime Minister’s Office, Council of Ministers of Iraq and Ms. Vassiliki (Vicky) Loizou, Secretary General for Private Investments at Ministry of Development of Greece. Then, followed sessions on the Greek Pharmaceutical Industry and the exploration of future cooperation in the pharmaceutical industries, investment opportunities and transfer of technology and know-how between both sides. Dr. Emad Abdulaziz Al-Thukair, CEO of Interhealth Medical Company of Saudi Arabia delivered a Special Introduction on Private Investments in Hospitals and their Future Potentials and Ms. Vlasia Aroni, Chemist, MSc, Research and Development Department of Intermed Pharmaceutical Laboratories S.A., Greece, delivered a Special Presentation on the development of cosmetics industry in Greece.
During the two days, the participating company representatives had the opportunity to meet their counterparts, exchange interesting ideas, opinions, enhance their network and open avenues for further exploration of partnerships.
